CISO budget allocations
I've been tracking CISO budget allocations, and a clear pattern is emerging.
43% of tech leaders are planning security spending increases above inflation, but the allocation strategy has shifted significantly.
Identity and access management is taking the top spot. With service accounts, APIs, workloads, and AI agents everywhere, attackers would rather "sign in than break down the door."
AI security governance comes second, followed by cloud security and compliance automation. When 71% of leaders admit their defenses aren't ready for quantum-fueled attacks, the urgency is obvious.
What stands out most: the shift from effort-based to outcome-based evaluation. Security budgets are moving from cost centers to strategic investments that demonstrate measurable risk reduction.
The board wants financial risk clarity. CISOs now need to quantify exposure in dollars, not just describe threat landscapes.
For enterprises, this isn't just about keeping up-it's about staying ahead while proving ROI.
